Oh, My Soul!

This is a bottom line truth for all who seek first the eternal kingdom of Christ. Except we learn how to manage our own soul our soul will manage us.

The saints are tempted in the soulish realm. When we walk in the Spirit, in step with his way and times, we know that we are Spirit led and we will not obey the lusts of our flesh which would keep us captive to evil thoughts and motives.

One of the first lessons Holy Spirit taught me was about managing my own soul. He said “Don’t react to what the enemy does or tries to do. That’s your soul. Emotional reactions to externals. Rather, wait. With long patience learn to respond to me. Ask wisdom as to how to deal with it. Impatience is your biggest enemy. Walk in step with me. I have power over all power. Give no place to lies about the power of the enemy. The only power he has over my people is when they Believe his lies that are contrary to my word. Do not empower him by believing him. Know that he uses men. Know those who are among you. No one can deceive you when you make me your only source”

King David was a man after the heart of God. He talked to his own soul. He told his soul to keep it’s seat. He encouraged his soul in the Lord when any difficulty presented itself. He said “Oh my soul! Why are you disquieted within me? I shall yet praise the Lord! “

He turned all of his attention toward the greatness of his God. Waiting on the Lord was his lifestyle. He knew how to wait well. His way of life was to sit still, no matter what! And wait for the instructions of the Lord. See that truth clearly in the scripture passage about when the enemy burned Ziglag.

David was a worshipper in spirit and in truth.

Always remember that saints are charged with serving God with joy and gladness. Even in trying circumstances we are learning to “Count it all joy!” In the mind of God every attempt and obstacle can become an opportunity to watch him show us his glory. We are to be co-laborers with him. Trust and obey. There is no other way

When the enemy comes in like a flood Holy Spirit raises the standard. Jesus sits as King over the flood. His banner over us is love.
