The Ships Of Life

Hebrews 2:1

Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we DRIFT away.

It’s so important to recognize when a gospel ship starts drifting away from truth. Therefore, it’s imperative that we learn to cultivate sharp discernment.

Hebrews 2:1

Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we DRIFT away.

It’s so important to recognize when a gospel ship starts drifting away from truth. I have some thoughts to share on that.

Quite a few years back I heard a word about “Gospel drift” and since then it’s a subject I’ve been alerted to look into. I learned about how man could set out on a journey, loving and seeking Jesus, but soon begin to drift offcourse because he lost focus. He took his eyes off of learning to know Jesus and got focused on a lesser desire. This caused him to swerve off into a man made version of the character of Christ. Loss of purity. His ship drifted because his eye was not single. He became a misrepresentation of who Jesus is. He is in danger of becoming harmful to all who trust and follow him now. The drifter  has been given some influence over people and he is headed into a ditch. In no time at all a few of them added their own personal version and more lies about Jesus were told as truth. The message became polluted and profane; mixed with flesh.

A ship is headed toward a ditch.

Often in the word of God we’re told to “Take heed to yourself” So I love to spend time doing that. And I love to share the wealth I learn so I have high hopes that you might be strengthened in some way by your visit here.

If we take heed to ourselves we will become very cautious about who we agree with and who we follow. One who is hungry for purity might be used by God to speak some words of warning to sucn men, hoping for a new light to waken them. “Don’t do that. friend, think deeper on that word.” But often we find we speak into deaf ears. Then God has to intervene. Truth denied. Lies taught. The lesson is “We won’t make it to the promised land by the works of our own hand.”

Do regular reality checks. Is your life ship on the right course? Are you fruitful and set fully on keeping your house in order? Are you guarding your heart from wrong leadings by the minds of men?

Our first love must be Jesus and any self agendas and agendas of any earthly man made thought must die. False gospel is man’s wisdom.

Titus 2: But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine

The book of James teaches us that the power of the tongue guides our life ship. Our tongue acts as a rudder that guides the direction of a ship. What the tongue says is what the heart holds so it’s clear that the words of our mouth can send us in the wrong direction.

Job 22:21 “Now acquaint yourself with Him, and be at peace; Thereby good will come to you.”

When we set our heart fully upon him we will stay the course. We’re on a safe journey. Even through the valleys of the shadow of death, we fear no evil. With his help we can get well acquainted with ourselves and all he has created us to be.  Never stop counting the cost. Our life is not our own…

Isaiah 33:20-22

Look upon Zion, the city of our appointed feasts; Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a quiet home, A tabernacle that will not be taken down; Not one of its stakes will ever be removed, Nor will any of its cords be broken. But there the majestic Lord will be for us a place of broad rivers and streams, In which no galley with oars will sail, nor majestic ships pass by. For the Lord is our Judge, The Lord is our Lawgiver, The Lord is our King; He will save us) saiah 33 is a glorious revealing of the King and his kingdom purposes. The ship is led by purity, no unclean thing will travel on it. I’m turning my eyes fully upon Jesus and seeking new day encounters so that I might be prepared to walk the talk I talk.

Let’s get on that good old gospel ship with Jesus. Smooth sailing!
